Double Page Spread Analysis

- The title of this article is extremely disjointed but fits in extremely well with the person who  has quite a grungy look

- The monochrome color scheme is something that fits well with the red. The red is used to highlight the key parts of the double page spread such as the name of the artist 'Lily Allen' and the writers name.

- By having the monochrome with the red, it is aesthetically pleasing rather than something that clashes.

- The set up of this double page spread is not one that is commonly used as there is not much written on the page, it is taken up by the title and image of the artist that it is about.

-There is a large 'i' at the beginning of the article which highlights the start of the article.

-The artist who is the main feature is someone who is extremely well known in the music industry, the cloths are quite minimalistic suggesting she is someone who does not care too much about her appearance.

- Title of the magazine is 'the triumph of Adele'. its written in a bold, black, serif type face to stand out in contrast from the neutral grey toned background. it takes up the top left hand quarter of the spread. the title gives an indication what to expect. having a large title is conventional of double page spreads and is particularly typical for the Rolling Stones magazine

- Kicker: A short summary of what is to be expected from the article. In this particular case, it gives an insight to the making of the album '21'. This is in a different type face to the title and the main body of text to allow it to stand out by itself. However, the font is still the same color.

- Drop cap: This is a typical convention of a magazine.  Its the first letter of the first word in the paragraph being enlarged to take up 3 to 4 lines of text spaces. This article uses an 'i' in black and also in a bold text. This is used to draw attention to the beginning of the article and to provide variation.

- Body text: The text strays away from usual text conventions. for example the text body in this one paragraph compared to other articles which are typically organized into columns. However it's likely that the article carries onto the next page as the main image is taking up the majority of the space. Guttering is another convention that hasn't appeared on this page, but would most likely appear on the next.

- Color theme: The article is monochrome, using blacks, whites and greys. This gives a 'classy' and and superior feel suggesting the formality of the article and the seriousness of Adele.

- Target audience: predominantly younger (15-24+). Adele being in this edition being in this edition brings an element of mature-ness and sophistication. It would even widen the target audience age band.

- Main image : The subject being Adele, the image being a close up shot with her focus away from the camera, and takes up the whole of the right side and a small mount of the left page leaving the small amount of text to fit around the image of Adele.
