Magazine Front Cover Analysis

 


- The logo of the magazine is on the top left hand corner and will be the first thing the audience reads when they pick up the magazine and the genre is very clear to them ( music )
 
- For the main image, they have used a mid shot of Florence who is a well known lead singer of indie band 'Florence and the machines', so naturally any indie/alternative music fans, such as myself, which has been increasing rapidly among teenagers, would be instantly drawn in, as well as movie fans as she has starred in a few.
 
- The choice of subtitles that were in another font was essential to attract the audience to the other featured articles, and the words such as 'greatest' and ' exclusive' are to further draw in readers. The main subtitles were in bold and different colors to stand out and differentiate. Not to forget the famous celeb names at the bottom and on the right.
 
- The selection of color that contrast one another are to appeal as simple yet eye catching since the color scheme wasn't bright but rather slightly monotonous. Another reason to explain the choice of colors are to represent the type of music furthermore. The indie and alternative music industry are somewhat known for finding simple colors aesthetic. This subtle but effective strategy would help attract the type of audience they are looking for.

- Rather than on the top like most magazines, the masthead is in the middle, in a different color than any of the others, which immediately draws attention to the main issue and in turn, the main image since its her name.

- 'Free Iconic Joy Division' posters included in the issue will definitely attract twice as more fans and readers, and is right next to the logo and in a different size in hopes that it would be one of the first few words the readers gaze will latch onto.
